Where is wonder?

Cookie: “Dandy, are your hugs filled with kiss flowers?”
Dandy: “Yes! How did you know?”
Cookie: “Because I see it in my eyes!”
Dandy: “How does it look?”
Cookie: “It looks like tiny stars.”
Dandy: “What color are the stars?”
Cookie: “Rainbow.”

In a single moment, Cookie’s boundless imagination transformed a simple hug into something so special: a gentle reminder that we all have the ability to transform our mundane experiences into something extraordinary too.

As adults, we become too focused on the physical reality, and it’s easy to dismiss simple moments as insignificant. Our world has made it impractical to be as awestruck and open-minded as children are. But when we allow ourselves to be present in the simple, mundane, invisible moments of our lives, we unlock a deeper connection with our emotions, and we can choose it to see beauty in every experience.

I found this beautiful piece of art in my child’s school journal! His method was novel as were his rainbows! I think he took some inspiration from his shirt as well.

Through Cookie’s eyes, we learn the power of seeing the world through a lens of wonder. If we take a moment to connect with our feelings, we can train our inner eyes to see beauty in every gesture, no matter how small.

Mindful Practice: Rainbow Stars Before Bed:
Before bed, take a moment to reflect on the good moments from your day. Close your eyes and picture them as rainbow stars. Each star represents a moment of love, joy, or kindness. Let these stars fill your heart with warmth. You created them. You willed them into your existence. With this power, you can multiply these moments infinitely and share them with the world—offering a warm, rainbow hug to all creatures, big and small.

Hi there! I truly believe that children are born wise, and we adults have so much to learn from them. Somewhere along the way, we’ve lost touch with our innate wisdom—buried under all the “grown-up” stuff society throws at us.
I see every moment with my kids as a chance to learn, and I love sharing those little lessons with you. I hope they bring you a smile or a fresh perspective.
I’d also love to hear from you—what’s something you’ve learned from a child in your life recently? Did it make you pause and look inward, even just a little?
My book series, A Nourishing Cookie Story, is packed with these kinds of lessons, inspired by kids. You can check them out on Amazon, and—watch them come to life on my YouTube channel.
