Cobweb Cameras

This past week, as temperatures dropped sharply, I hurried back home after walking my child to the school bus. That’s when I noticed something unusual in the grass—tiny spots glinting like mirrors or glass. My first thought was, Did some garbage spill over? But as I took a closer look, my concern turned to delight.

What I saw were little cobwebs filled with rain from the night before. The sunlight hit them just right, making them shimmer like glass, complete with tiny rainbows. It was magical!

I wondered, What might these tiny cobweb cameras be gazing at? As I looked closer, I noticed mushrooms scattered around like models in a photoshoot. A delicate white one stood alone like a flower, while a group of little brown ones huddled together, and a family of big yellow ones stood proudly nearby. It felt like a lively fall party, and for a brief moment, I was lucky to be part of their world.

Sometimes, the smallest, quietest corners of nature gently remind us to slow down and notice the beauty we often rush past. What’s truly worth seeing often hides in plain sight. It takes a different kind of vision—one that clears away the cobwebs of our conditioning—to engage in this playful, mindful game of hide and seek with the world around us.

Just as we naturally reach for a book, a cup of coffee, a cozy pair of slippers, or a walk to find comfort, what if we intentionally welcomed these small, delightful moments into our lives as a source of comfort?

Here is thought to intentially look for “Micro-Moments of Awe”
Like the cobweb cameras gazing at mushrooms, let yourself be amazed by something you thought was ordinary. Take a deep breath and reflect on the wonder of being present in that small, magical moment.

Hi there! I truly believe that children are born wise, and we adults have so much to learn from them. Somewhere along the way, we’ve lost touch with our innate wisdom—buried under all the “grown-up” stuff society throws at us.
I see every moment with my kids as a chance to learn, and I love sharing those little lessons with you. I hope they bring you a smile or a fresh perspective.
I’d also love to hear from you—what’s something you’ve learned from a child in your life recently? Did it make you pause and look inward, even just a little?
My book series, A Nourishing Cookie Story, is packed with these kinds of lessons, inspired by kids. You can check them out on Amazon, and—watch them come to life on my YouTube channel.
